Hammer Cycles, owned and operated by Max Hammer (yes, that's his real name), is a full-service bicycle sales, service and rental shop located at 403 Washington St. West, Lewisburg, WV. We sell Cannondale, Giant, Intense, Liv, Momentum, Aventon & Electric Bicycle Co. bikes. We carry accessories from respected brands like Maxxis, Osprey, Kuat, Kali and more. If you're looking for it, we can probably get it!
Max Hammer
Max has been on a bike since he was a toddler. He came of age on the trails surrounding Phoenix, Arizona in the 1980s just as mountain biking was sweeping the western United States. Max's first rides were made of castoff parts and junkyard bikes welded together by his older brothers. He went to any length to keep up with the big kids, hucking his bike off any ramp they suggested.
Max survived and went on to race several disciplines through the late 80s and early 90s, including dual slalom which took him to the 1990 World Championship. He has raced alongside some of the nation's pre-eminent riders on the toughest terrain anywhere.
These days he's proud to call the Greenbrier Valley home and offers a lifetime of expertise honed on backcountry trails and racecourses to the community he loves. In his downtime, he serves as head coach of the Greenbrier Valley Hellbenders Youth Mountain Bike Team.

Sarah Elkins
You'll usually find Sarah hiding behind her laptop, managing the digital side of our business. Sarah is a writer who can also be found at SarahElkins.com. She is the team director for the Greenbrier Valley Youth Mountain Bike Team and devotes her energy to trail advocacy and development. Sarah serves as a member of the Lewisburg City Council and chairs the Parks Commission.

Meet our shop dog in training, Mr. Messick. He's a purebred WV Black Dog. We know because, in a moment of weakness, we paid for a doggy DNA test. He is a perfect blend of 17 breeds. Seriously. We're teaching him to love trails and bike rides as much as we do. Stop in and say hello!
